Australia’s only dedicated pitching session for creative businesses, the Creative3 Investment Marketplace returns again this year following the success of the inaugural event last year, where emerging entrepreneurs will vie for a creative business package valued at $100,000.
The Investment Marketplace, part of the highly successful Creative3 International Forum, encourages creative businesses to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry experts, obtain invaluable feedback and ideas, and learn and grow from the experience. The winning business or idea will receive a $100,000 creative business package comprising in-kind support and cash to help bring their creative ideas to reality
CEO of QUT Creative Enterprise Australia, Anna Rooke, said the Creative3 Investment Marketplace provides creative businesses a platform for commercial success. “Most creative businesess start with a great idea but many lack the confidence and know-how to secure investment to make their business grow,” Ms Rooke said.
“The Investment Marketplace provides opportunity for businesses to pitch their ideas to industry leaders and gain valuable advice and mentoring to take their business to the next level, not to mention a very attractive $100,000 prize if they are selected as the winners.”
The dedicated pitching session follows the successful Connecting Creatives with Investors national workshop series. These workshops held across Australia were delivered by QUT Creative Enterprise Australia in partnership with ATP Innovations, Australian Association of Angel Investors and Creative Industries Innovation Centre, and supported by Enterprise Connect.
More than 120 creative businesses took part in the sell-out series. The practical, “how-to” sessions assisted creatives to understand key investment drivers and how to “package” business and product ideas in a way that was appealing to investors in preparation for the Creative3 Investment Marketplace.
“We had an amazing response to this workshop series, with over 79 per cent of creative businesses looking to implement key learnings and raise investment over the next six months. This follows feedback from last year’s Creative3, to provide creatives with more hands-on support to help prepare for this year’s event.”
“I encourage all motivated creative businesses, who meet the eligibility requirements, to apply for this year’s Creative3 Investment Marketplace,” Ms Rooke said.
Winner of the 2010 Invesment Marketplace, Half a Teaspoon, was rewarded by the international expert business panel for its innovative re-usable water bottle and in-built filter and the product’s future commercial potential.
Calling all creative entrepreneurs to pitch for $100k valued prize
The Victorian small business and developer of 321 Water and ShowerWatch won the $100,000 creative business prize package against a very competitive field of six other aspiring creatives from across the dynamic sector.
Half a Teaspoon’s Gretha Oost said winning the Creative3 Investment Marketplace gave her the chance to work with some of Australia’s leading experts in the fields of finance, law and communications which opened up many new doors.
“The whole experience increased our confidence in what we do and inspired us to create even better products,” Gretha said. “After winning, we refocused our marketing strategy and now one year on, we’ve successfully launched 321 Water.”
Interested creative businesses should submit their application via a 3 minute video pitch online at www.creative3.com.au using the Creative3 Investment Marketplace by 5.00 pm 10 October 2011 (Brisbane time).
