The Creative Industries Innovation Centre is hosting ‘The Timely (Design) Doctor’ as part of Victoria’s annual State of Design Festival on Wednesday 21st July, in partnership with Design Victoria.
This is your opportunity as a creative business owner or manager to find out how design strategy can result in growing two very different businesses. An expert panel will analyse these two businesses, redesigning their operations for superhuman performance.
The first business is a product design studio, creating two products with major Capital ‘D’ design manufacturers in Europe. The second is a public transport operator that is struggling to deliver 21st Century mobility as a result of its ageing infrastructure.
The expert panel will consist of:
Facilitator, Marcus Westbury: broadcaster, writer, media maker and festival director.
Dr Brand, Matt Eastwood: National Creative Director and Vice Chairman of DDB (CIIC partner), the gun behind some of the most innovative and recognisable creative projects in advertising today.
Dr Digital, Hael Kobayashi: a pioneer in the field of digital media, Hael has served as a senior executive and producer for some of the world's leading film and entertainment studios and advised Governments in several countries on Digital Policy.
Dr Entrepreneur, Andrew Coates: a successful entrepreneur with an extensive background in Internet and enterprise technology innovation. Former CEO and co-founder of AgentArts Inc he has since worked as a personalisation technology evangelist at FAST and Microsoft.
Dr Management, Judith Bennett: Victoria’s CIIC Business Advisor with over 14 years of business consulting experience. Judith has worked with Deloitte Consulting, Andersen Consulting, BHP Billiton and managed her own company. In addition to working in the creative industries Judith has an extensive entrepreneurship, law and psychology background.
The Timely (Design) Doctor is being held at 11.30am on Wednesday 21st July, 2010 at the Wheeler Centre Melbourne VIC.
The 2010 State of Design Festival will take place from 14-25th July throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional centres around Victoria. The festival increases the awareness of the value of design and showcases how design generates innovation, promotes sustainability and adds value to business and society.
